Eikoh Hosoe utilizes the contours of the human body to create abstract, expressionistic black-and-white compositions. In his world, bodies become poetic landscapes, fragmented and obscured.

Initially he halted this project after Bill Brandt’s similar Perspectives sur le Nu (1961) was released, and did not complete the series until years later. The erotic photos remain austere yet thought provoking, as the obscured figures allow the viewer to project their own subconscious interpretations.
